China Unicom launched new handsets to fight against rivals in 4G war

Updated:2014/1/20 17:00

According to insiders, China Unicom has upgraded its HSPA+ network to 42Mbps. Meanwhile, it also launched the first batch of 42M smartphones which cost near one thousand RMB.

A reliable source shows China Unicom planned to complete upgrade of its 3G network to 42Mbps in more than 360 cities. According to the speed test, the new 3G network will be on a par with 4G network, which provide 3G users with a more stable high-speed network.

Since this intense price war on 4G network triggered out, three major domestic operators pull out all the stops to promote 4G devices. In fact, according to ITU standard, 42Mbps HSPA+ network was partitioned to 4G network, which means China Unicom’s customers could enjoy 4G speed and 42M devices

At the same time, China Unicom’s first 42Mbps network compatible smartphone Hisense MIRA U980 just hit the market. Its 1199 RMB price is regarded as a trump card in 4G war before Chinese New Year.
