Over 80 million 3G subscribers appeared in China in 2011

Latest data shows that the total number of 3G subscribers of three major domestic carriers has been more than 80 million in 2011, China Mobile has lost its dominance of the 2G era and the three major telecom operators evolved into tripod pattern in the 3G market.

C114 learnt from data that China Mobile had increased 30.51 million 3G users (TD format) to the total number of 51.21 million in 2011, occupying 40% of 3G market share, while in 2G era, China Mobile occupied 85% of GSM market share.

China Unicom increased 25.95 million 3G users to the total number of 40.01 million, occupying 31% of 3G market share.

China Telecom increased 24 million 3G users (EVDO standard) to 36.29 million, occupying 29% of 3G market share.

On the whole, there are over 80.46 million new 3G subscribers appeared in 2011, and the total number of 3G users had reached 127 million, 3G penetration has exceeded 13% of 976 million mobile subscribers.
