France Telecom would consider purchasing the 4% stake in Poland's dominant telecom Telekomunikacja Polska SA, or TPSA from the government, France Telecom's chief executive Stephane Richard said, Polish Press Agency reported Wednesday.
"Poland's operations are fully consolidated within our global results, so from the financial point of view we don't need to increase our engagement in TPSA," Richard said.
"At the same time, we are content with our presence and our investments in Poland, and if there emerges a possibility to buy this 4% stake, we will look closer into it," he added.
The government still plans to sell the remaining 4% stake in TPSA in 2010. France Telecom owns a 49.8% stake in TPSA.
