Zain Jordan applies for LTE trial permit

Updated:2010/3/9 09:43

Mobile operator Zain Jordan is studying a number of offers by international companies for the introduction of LTE. The company is considering offers from companies like Motorola, Ericsson, Huawei and Nokia Siemens Networks. Zain announced previously its intention to introduce LTE technology services in the local market in an offer it made to the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC). Zain CEO Abdel Malek Al Jaber told the Jordan Times that he was awaiting a decision by the TRC to issue the required approvals that will lead to the launch of a trial stage ahead of official launch early next year. Zain's rival Orange Jordan has just launched the first 3G services in the country. Orange has one year of exclusivity before other operators in the country can receive 3G licences.
