Since January the first, China Mobile, one of China's major telecom operators, has lowered its price for GPRS, or General Packet Radio System. This is a technology providing online service for mobile phone users. The monthly package price was also cut by as much as two thirds.
In Beijing, China Mobile cut its GPRS price from 0.03 yuan per kilo-bite to 0.01 yuan per kilo-bite. In addition, for a monthly charge of five yuan, China Mobile will provide a 30 mega-bite service, upgraded from the previous 10 mega-bite service.
One mobile phone user said "Message sending, web surfing and stock market trading all require the use of the GPRS service. And this new service that costs only five yuan for 30 mega-bite is very good. But we are hoping for an even better offer in the future!"
The package price cut is only for users of Go-Tone, M-zone as well as some of Easyown users.
China Mobile says that with its upcoming launch of 3G and TD services, the price of its various mobile phone services will continue to fall.
