India’s Economic Times is reporting that state-owned telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) aims to launch 3G services in 29 cities in the Andhra Pradesh circle by the end of March 2009. Citing reports from BSNL’s chief general manager for the circle, T N Sudhindra Kumar, the telco is expected to launch new services including video conferencing. The BSNL executive claimed that the operator has an 18.9% market share of GSM subscribers in the calling area, and has capacity for 196,000 3G connections. In order to ensure demand is met for 3G services the operator will increase its capacity by a further 150,000 in this financial year.
