Guangdong Telecom, the branch of China Telecom in Guangdong province, put an end to the takeover of CDMA networks of China Unicom and kicked off officially related businesses on December 1.
However, only a few of CDMA mobile phones are available for handset subscribers to choose from at the moment.

The telecom operator will not promote massively CDMA mobile telecom services until next year, when it will have finished integration and consolidation of CDMA business and its traditional fixed line telephone service, according to an executive from Guangdong Telecom.

China Telecom recently founded the Tianyi Mobile Phone Company Limited, which was charged with selling mobile phones under Tianyi, a private brand of China Telecom.

The new company has procured more than 5 million CDMA handsets from ZTE, Huawei Technologies, Hisense, Coolpad, and Samsung. And it will come up with more models for handset users in the future.
