China Mobile, the world's largest mobile service provider, said on Tuesday the tender for construction of the second phase of its third-generation mobile network had been completed.
Chairman Wang Jianzhou told Reuters on the sidelines a conference in Macau that the tender had been concluded, but he declined to provide financial details.
The second phase of China's homegrown high-speed third-generation wireless standard (TD-SCDMA) network would cover 28 cities, he said.
This would expand the mobile giant's coverage to 38 cities next year. (Reporting by Joanne Chiu; Editing by Ken Wills)
