Wuhan Telecom has revealed that it has chosen more than 1,000 new CDMA base station locations and upgraded nearly 400 pieces of existing CDMA network equipment, with a total investment of nearly RMB 1 bln.

In October, Wuhan Telecom began to optimize, upgrade, and expand its CDMA networks, bringing call capacity from less than 500,000 users to 1.5 mln, data networks from 950,000 to 2.65 mln, and increasing wireless bandwidth to 3 Mbps.

The company says that since taking over operation of China Unicom's (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) CDMA services on October 1, it has added 15,000 new CDMA users.
