China Telecom is scheduled to ship CDMA mobile phones with Wi-Fi function in the first quarter of 2009. Now the telecom carrier is speeding up takeover of CDMA network from China Unicom.
On top of that, China Telecom will launch new brand Tianyi aiming at individual mobile phone users. Previously, it has got two sub-brands My e-Home and Business Guide for household and corporate users, respectively.

China Telecom once said it would invest as much as CNY 80 billion to upgrade, rebuild and optimize CDMA network.

As of October 1, 1,300 service outlets of China Telecom spread across the country were able to offer CDMA telecom service.

In comparison with other telecom technologies, CDMA has advantages over high-quality voice, high access rate, energy consumption, privacy, frequency efficiency, and scalability. At the moment, the maximum transmission speed of CDMA network can be 153.6Kbps. China's domestic wireless network card market is all but cornered by CDMA.
