PT Indosat saw its net profit fall 30% this quarter, dropping to 417 billion rupiah ($42.5 million).
Yet the company's revenue climbed nearly 15%, reaching $489.6 million, according to Reuters calculations.
This disparity has been blamed on increased operating expenses. Indonesian mobile operators, facing stiff competition, have also been aggressively undercutting each other in price-wars.
On the other hand, Indosat's net profit for the first nine months of 2008 rose 7.4 % over the comparable period last year, totalling $149 million.
Indosat is Indonesia's second-largest mobile operator, and by 2007 had attracted over 24.5 million subscribers.
