Camiant says that it has signed an unnamed European GSM operator as a customer of its policy control platform, which enables operators to dynamically allocate mobile broadband resources to maximize throughput within the limits of their existing network.
"With operators scrutinizing the value of the billions spent on capacity upgrades, having a policy control solution in place is a sound, often critical, decision for financial and customer service management," said Jennifer Pigg, vice president, Enabling Technologies, Yankee Group, Inc. "The growing trend to offer flat-rate plans poses a major concern for operators as consumers embrace unlimited Internet access without worrying about getting an enormous bill. The potential for degraded service quality is real."
"Wireless operators are turning to Camiant's trusted and proven policy control solution as mobile broadband applications become increasingly popular," said Randy Fuller, vice president of business development for Camiant. "Camiant provides wireless operators with vital real-time intelligence and management of their network resources, helping create an infrastructure designed to capitalize on new revenue opportunities."
Camiant's Policy Control Server is compliant with 3GPP's Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) specifications.
