China United Telecommunications Corp Ltd said its parent China Unicom Group bought 50 mln of its A-shares in Shanghai yesterday.
In a statement filed with the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the company said the parent's stake will rise to 60.97 pct from 60.74 pct.
The parent company will further increase its stake in China United Telecommunications within the next 12 months by not more than 2 pct.
Shares of China United Telecommunications closed at 5.3 yuan yesterday, up 7.72 pct.
China United Telecommunications indirectly controls Hong Kong-listed China Unicom Ltd.
