Telefonica de Argentina is considering keeping on hold its compensation claim filed against the government in 2003, reports BNamericas citing local paper El Cronista. The telco filed a USD2.8 billion claim for damages in response to government-imposed restrictions on the company following the country's financial crisis. It has until 7 October to decide whether to proceed with the claim or maintain the suspension. Telefonica's fixed line telephony tariffs have been frozen since 2001.
