Brazil broadband base passes ten million, says Cisco report

By 30 June 2008 Brazil was home to 10.04 million broadband lines, up 48% year-on-year, reports Telecompaper citing the Cisco Broadband Barometer. At the same date the total number of mobile broadband connections (excluding 3G devices but including PC access) stood at 1.3 million, up 464% compared to 233,000 subscriptions at 30 June 2007. The number of 3G-based internet users is estimated at 950,000 at the end of June 2008. According to Cisco’s calculations, broadband penetration in Brazil reached 4.6% at the same date.
