Chunghwa Telecom Co. Chairman Ho-chen Tan will be replaced by President Lu Shyue-ching, the United Daily News reported, without saying where it got the information.
Current Vice President Chang Hsiao-tung will take over as president to begin a ``Lu-Chang era'' at the company, the Taipei- based newspaper said on its Web site today, without providing a timeline for the reshuffle.
Shen Fu-fu, a spokeswoman for Taipei-based Chunghwa, declined to comment on the report.
Ho-chen, a former vice minister of transportation and communications, was appointed chairman in 2003 under the Democratic Progressive Party administration. Chunghwa, Taiwan's largest phone operator, is 36 percent-owned by the ministry.
Lu, appointed president in 1996 under the then-Kuomintang party administration, is a former director-general of the ministry. The Kuomintang retook office on May 20.
