People Telecom to retail Telstra¨s ADSL2+ service

Updated:2008/8/11 15:19

Alternative telco People Telecom plans to start reselling incumbent operator Telstra’s ADSL2+ broadband service, reports ZDNet.com.au, making it the first Australian altnet to do so. Telstra has resisted attempts to get it to start offering a wholesale ADSL2+ service, as rivals such as iiNet and Optus are pushing ahead with their own ADSL2+ deployments. However, the former monopoly appears to have changed its mind in recent months. Telstra boasts the largest ADSL2+ network in the country with some 900 exchanges covered. People Telecom is already an extensive reseller of Telstra services and earlier this year signed an AUD200 million (USD182 million) deal with the incumbent.
