Belgacom has announced the completion of its purchase of mobile operator Tele2 Luxembourg, having first announced the acquisition on 26 June this year. Belgacom has confirmed it will continue to operate the Luxembourg subsidiary under its current residential ‘Tango’ brand, offering both mobile and broadband services. Belgacom is also in the process of finalising the purchase of Tele2’s Liechtenstein operations and the purchase price for the two operators is believed to have been around EUR210 million (USD330 million). According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, state-owned Belgacom’s wirelesss subsidiary, Proximus (Belgacom Mobile), claimed a 42.8% market share at June 2008.
