T-Mobile U.S.A.'s 3G network has been a long time coming, but now customers in Las Vegas will have the opportunity to use this long-awaited wireless network speed and quality enhancement.

This network is a product of T-Mobile's purchase during the FCC's AWS spectrum auction. In particular, the Las Vegas rollout has seen an investment of more than $37.5 million in infrastructure and spectrum to get it up and running.

This network utilizes the 1700 MHz band, and is therefore different than the 850/1900 MHz band that AT&T's 3G network uses. This means that mobile devices have to made with compatible hardware and software (firmware) in order to utilize this flavor of UMTS.

This additional network is made to compliment T-Mobile's HotSpot Wi-Fi network which improves the quality of service of this carrier's voice service by giving users the ability to utilize VoIP with specific T-Mobile routers and a home DSL or Cable broadband connection.

New Models Coming Soon

To help users better take advantage of the new network update, T-Mobile also announced that it plans to soon offer its first HSDPA device, along with new and compelling data-centric, all-in-one devices.

No other information is known about this device at this time, but it is assumed that with more areas around the US offering T-Mobile's 3G service, that a new device offering would soon follow so that customers can take advantage of it.
