Bharti Airtel, India's number one mobile operator, is not in talks with South Africa's MTN "for any industrial combination," a Reuters report quoting Bharti chairman Sunil Mittal said.
Bharti's talks with MTN for creating a global top ten telecom firm failed in May, but media reports have said the firms could be talking again after the South African firm's negotiations with Bharti rival Reliance Communications ended.
Bharti Airtel can roll out a 3G network within six months of receiving spectrum, Mittal said on the sidelines of an annual shareholders meet.
