Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) aims at gradually growing its profitability over the next five years, with target net earnings per share (EPS) set at NT$4.68 for 2009 and at NT$5.62 for 2013, according to the company's conference for 2009-2013 operational strategies held on July 28. CHT also expects its revenue to keep growing from a 2008 forecast of NT$185.0 billion (US$6.09 billion) to NT$188.1 billion in 2009 and NT$199.7 billion in 2013, the company indicated. In addition, CHT will beef up its sales promotion to largely increase the number of its FTTH/FTTB (fiber to the home/building) subscribers and that of MOD (multimedia on demand) subscribers over 2009-2013, the company pointed out. In line with the operational goals, CHT decided on a tentatively estimated budget of NT$165.5 billion for 2009-2013 capital expenditure, averaging NT$33.1 billion a year, the company indicated.
