Chile's largest fixed-line telephone company, Telefonica Chile CTCa.SN, said late on Tuesday its first-half net profit fell 43 percent from a year earlier to 3.001 billion pesos ($5.7 billion.)
However the he company, controlled by Spain's Telefonica, said sales rose 0.8 percent during the period, boosted by packaging broad band internet, phone and pay television services.
"The figures for the half are in line with the company's business plans." said Jose Moles, CEO of Telefonica Chile. "Revenue from flexible voice plans, broadband and pay television compensated for lower revenue from traditional telecom services." ($1 = 526.05 pesos at close of reporting period)
