China Telecom (00728) announces that as at the end of June, its local access lines in service amounted to 214.89 million, a record low for this year.
There was a net decrease of 580,000 lines during June and a net decrease of 5.44 million lines during the first six months of the year.
China Telecom also announces that as at the end of June, its broadband subscribers amounted to 39.95 million, up 890,000 from May. During the first six months, its net addition of broadband subscribers amounted to 4.3 million.
Those figures included the operations of Beijing Telecom, which was acquired by China Telecom. Beijing Telecom had 320,000 local access lines in services and 90,000 broadband subscribers.
