China Mobile (NYSE: CHL, 941.HK) is currently advertising Research In Motion's (RIM) Alcatel-BlackBerry 8700 handset on screens operated by Chinese out-of-home advertiser Focus Media Holding Limited (Nasdaq: FMCN) in Shanghai. According to Southern Metropolis Daily, the mobile operator is in talks with RIM regarding the release of a second BlackBerry handset. Assuming they are real, these talks may be a bit premature. Despite visible advertising, the 8700 model handset still isn't for sale in China Mobile's Shanghai and Guangdong stores.
