China Mobile to Introduce New TD-SCDMA Data Packages

Updated:2008/7/15 11:16

China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) has submitted a plan to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) for the adjustment of TD-SCDMA calling plan fees during the commercial testing period. In addition to the existing RMB 100/month (2G) and RMB 200/month (5G) data plans, China Mobile will add RMB 5/month (30M), RMB 20/month (50M), and RMB 50/month (150M) plans. For users who have not signed up for any of the plans, data transfers over TD-SCDMA networks will be assessed at RMB 0.01/KB.

China Mobile said that once approved, the new plans should be introduced between July and September of this year; if there are no further adjustments, then the plans will remain in effect until the end of the TD-SCDMA commercial trials.
