China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) new ringback tone advertising service went online on July 1. A Beijing Mobile spokesperson for the service explained that while the service has yet to be widely promoted, the number of ringback ads broadcast per day has been increased from the initial several hundred per day to three or four thousand per day. The service will be more widely implemented during the second half of this month.

At the moment, the ringback advertising service is limited to Beijing, and only three ad tones are currently available on Beijing Mobile's webpage. The spokesperson said that talks were underway for more services.
