Russian and CIS mobile operator VimpelCom and Vietnamese state-owned enterprise Global Telecommunications Corp have signed an agreement to establish a mobile telecommunications joint venture in Vietnam, under the name of Gtel-Mobile. Under the terms of the agreement, VimpelCom will receive a 40 percent stake in the company for an equity investment of USD 267 million. Gtel and its Vietnamese subsidiary will own an equity stake of 51 percent and 9 percent, respectively.
