France Telecom has joined Lenovo's Legendsoft International Technology arm and Wuhan Donghu Hi-tech Development Zone to set up an R&D Center in Optics Valley of Wuhan in China.
The center will focus on customer relations and call center management, business intelligence, and enterprise applications integration. No financial details were disclosed but the center is expected to employ 500 people in three years.
France Telecom's has 15 R&D centers on four continents that employ 3,800 researchers and have registered 8,400 patents.
The company opened an R&D center in Beijing in 2004, where 115 researchers are working on convergent and mobile terminals, and convergent and mobile multimedia value-added services.
