Mexico's Telcel has launched 3G coverage in several cities. Nokia Siemens Networks, one of Telcel’s vendors provided a solution combining infrastructure and services based on High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) standards built on its Flexi BTS technology.

“With the launch of the 3G network in Mexico, Telcel considers that all the customers will benefit from the powerful combination of a superfast network and a portfolio of next-generation 3G handsets that quickly deliver interactive content and applications anytime, anywhere to the handset or a PC connected via an access PC card or handset“ said Armando Almeida, Head of Latin America for Nokia Siemens Networks.

Telcel is the leading wireless services provider in Mexico with more than 51 million clients and 90% of the Mexican wireless market. Telcel is a subsidiary of América Movil.

The company recently secured an agreement to offer the 3G version of Apple's iPhone to its subscribers.
