Data Nets Partners With NEC And Cisco Systems

Papua New Guinea’s largest computer networking and data communications company, Data Nets, has gone into partnership with two of the world’s largest IT companies from Australia to provide business houses with better communication infrastructures. The two IT firms are CISCO Systems and NEC to enable Data Nets to use their products to meet business houses and industry partners’ communication technology demands in PNG. Data Nets conducted a seminar in Port Moresby yesterday on "Enabling Emergent Technologies to Assist Business,” which attracted many business houses including representatives from banks, universities, mines and schools. It showcased the different technologies each company has to offer to assist Data Nets serve its customers in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Presentations were done by Milton Purcell of NEC (Australia), Sean Fitzgerald and Cameron Harris of CISCO Systems (Australia), Adam Green of Cytrack and Sundar Ramarmurthy, General Manager of Data Nets Limited. The Seminar topics include the convergence of voice, video and data for customers. “This convergence allows an organization to extract more efficiency and increase productivity,” said Purcell, country manager of NEC Systems. Some of the products showcased at the seminar include telephony billing, reporting and directory, voice recording, telephone unified communication, telephony and call center unified communications and data voice. CISCO Systems Australia Limited Channel Account Manager, Cameron Harris told the seminar that they had worked with Data Nets as partners for over 10 years. Their biggest opportunity now is to continue to work more closely with them to serve the needs of business and industry partners in the country and the Pacific. Data Nets is the sole distributor of CISCO and Molex products in PNG. General Manager Ramarmurthy said the seminar’s aim was to showcase the different information technology used in the world today and businesses have to keep up with the changing technologies especially in business and e-commerce. “Timely and efficient information is vital in any business organization and industries in PNG need to embrace these new technologies if we want to prosper,” Ramarmurthy said. “The seminar was well received by the audience and the need for information on trends in IT was fulfilled to a large extent. PNG has a need for more information sessions such as this so that companies and individuals can make more informed decisions in future,” he said.
