Indian mobile operator, Bharti Airtel is reportedly set to partner with Cisco Systems, the IT and telecommunications service provider, to offer enhanced managed network services that include handling communication networks for other companies.
According to The Economic Times, the move by the mobile telecommunications company follows the joint venture between Alcatel-Lucent and Reliance Communications for managed-network services for domestic as well as international telecom operators. David Nishball, president for enterprise services at Bharti Airtel, reportedly said that the venture would start with multi-protocol label switching services, which is used to speed up the flow of traffic on a network. The fall in tariffs and reduced average revenue per user has had most of the telecom companies in India offering managed services that combine IT services and telecom offerings. Source: Datamonitor |
