Lowe, a qualified engineer, has formerly worked for Tranz Rail and
IBM New Zealand as well as NZ Post before it was separated from Telecom.
He joins Alcatel-Lucent from US firm
AT&T Corporation where he most recently held the role of Asia-Pacific regional vice president.
Alcatel-Lucent, whose New Zealand clients include Telecom, Kordia and Transpower, first operated in New Zealand in 1913 from offices in the Hutt Valley.
The company is currently building and managing network infrastructure for Telecom and working on network transformation projects with state owned enterprises Transpower and Kordia.
Lowe said he was attracted to the role by the opportunity to contribute to the next generation of New Zealand''s network technology.
He said two New Zealand projects featured in Alcatel''s group third quarter results last year.
"A significant achievement and one indicative of the expertise and commitment to world-class delivery locally."
Alcatel-Lucent employs over 700 people in New Zealand through offices in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch.
