SingTel has contracted Ericsson to expand and enhance its 2G and 3G network in a $160 million deal.

Huawei Technologies and SingTel Optus have joined force to launch an innovation center in Sydney to develop next-generation mobile and wireless broadband equipment and technologies.

Comcast is investing in a startup that delivers high-definition video using file-sharing techniques. GridNetworks said that Comcast would make an unspecified investment in the company and collaborate on developing so-called peer-to-peer file-sharing techniques.

Malaysia''s Maxis dismisses an SMS hoax over the weekend telling users to switch off their phone. The messages warned that a "radiation wave" was to be emitted from the mobile phone towers and that it could be harmful to people if their phone was still switched on.

News Corp. is pooling some of its web sites, including the newly acquired Wall Street Journal properties, to better sell financial ads targeting Latin America. The firm is launching an ad network for helping web sites sell higher-priced ads targeted to specific audiences.
