China Mobile, the largest mobile operator, launches the Alcatel 8700 Blackberry handset this week supplied by
TCL Communication Equipment Co, sources reported.
Two Blackberry service-only packages are offered to corporate users with monthly subscription fees of RMB 398 and RMB 598. China Mobile, which is responsible for running and promoting the Blackberry brand in China, will make Guangdong, Shanghai and Beijing the focus for marketing, targeting the foreign firms.
Industry insiders estimate personal users may still have to wait for a year or two to enjoy the Blackberry service.
