Updated:2007/9/29 10:18
China Netcom has signed a cooperative agreement with Australian telecom operator Telstra over the provision of telecommunications services between China and the Oceania region for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, an official with the Chinese
fixed-line operator said today. "According to the agreement, China Netcom and Telstra will provide services to Australian television broadcaster Channel 7, which will broadcast television coverage of the Olympic Games to the Oceania region. From there, the content will be broadcast covering the entire continent [of Oceania] through the Channel 7 television network," an official with China Netcom told Interfax. China Netcom became the official fixed-line communications service partner of the Beijing 2008 Olympics in July 2004. During the event, China Netcom will provide fixed-line communication services, including voice, data and wireless broadband. In addition, the carrier will support the transmissions of approximately 25,000 international broadcasters. Source: interfax |
