China Telecom to Further Reduce CAPEX in 2018

China Telecom has released the interim report on August 23.

The company has achieved operating revenue of CNY184.118 billion with a 4.1 percent increase from a year earlier; its service revenue has been up 6.8 percent, higher than the average industry level, to CNY165.847 billion year over year.

The EBITDA climbed 3.7 percent to CNY52.414 billion compared with the same period of last year.

Yang Jie, chairman and CEO of China Telecom noted that capex this year will reduce 8.1 percent as planned after reaching peak last year and decrease further in 2018 if there's no exceptional circumstance.

The telco's Investment will pick up again with the launching of 5G in 2020 while the investment amount cannot be estimated, he noted.

CAPEX of China Telecom this year totals CNY89 billion as planned, while that reached CNY41.1 billion in the first half of the year.
