China Mobile has been carrying out the "Big Connection" strategy smoothly, and chairman of the company Shang Bing introduced the progress and future planning of the strategy at MWCS 2017 on June 28.

In the future, China Mobile will further build manageable, safe and reliable broadband information infrastructure of high quality with high speed and center on building high-quality 4G mobile network, high-quality broadband access network and new content network.
China Mobile's 4G base stations, according to Mr. Shang, will hit 1.77 million, its 4G user base will be over 630 million, the population coverage rate will be about 99%, its VoLTE users will exceed 150 million with a home coverage of over 70 percent, FTTH will account for more than 90 percent and the digital set-top box penetration rate will hit 45 percent.
Meanwhile, China Mobile will accelerate the transformation of next-generation network based on SDN and NFV, and enhance the intelligence and agility of the network.
The company has conducted 5G field tests in 5 Chinese cities this year, and will start scale tests in 2018, expected to launch pre-commercial 5G services in 2019 and achieve scale commercialization in 2020.
In addition, China Mobile has been also promoting the development of TD-LTE and LTE FDD collaboratively with other sides in the industry. It has constructed 101 commercial TD-LTE networks in 53 countries and regions around the world.
In addition, China Mobile has been vigorously developing the Internet of Things and the "Internet+" this year. It will begin mobile IoT construction in 346 cities in China and launch services in some major cities before the end of this year.
