Minister of MIIT: the competitive landscape of three major operators is unbalanced

Updated:2015/11/10 11:12

At the press conference held by the Information Office of the State Council, Miao Wei, minister of MIIT responded to press questions about improving the speed and cutting down the tariff, “To solve the problem, we should further encourage the competition which is the most effective way to make the enterprises improve their service.”

Miao Wei also said that as the competent authority of the telecom industry, MIIT has made some attempts during these two years and the attempts have preliminarily taken effect now.

In terms of mobile communication, MIIT has issued mobile communication resale services pilot licenses to 42 private enterprises, permitting them to enter the mobile communication field. In the aspect of fixed network communication, MIIT started issuing approvals of letting 62 enterprises (times) which stand for private capital enter the broadband access market in the beginning of this year. “We are trying hard to advance the three major operators constructing a relatively balanced competitive landscape which is unbalanced now. I believe the network speed will get higher, the service will get better and the price will be lower with the competition intensifying.” He said.
