For the recently hot topic “domestic roaming services still be charged while the cost is zero”, director of the development department of MIIT Wen Ku responded that MIIT was considering the possibility of cancelling domestic roaming tariffs.
Not long ago, the three major operators have lowered the international roaming tariffs, but did nothing for the domestic roaming tariffs, while some industry experts said that
the current domestic roaming cost is zero.
As a response to this news, Wen Ku said that MIIT paid great attention to this issue and was considering the possibility of cancelling domestic roaming tariffs.
With the progress of technologies, especially after the introduction of 3G and 4G, many operators made no differences between the long distance and roaming tariffs in 3G and 4G, namely the “integration of long distance and roaming tariffs”. Wen Ku said that the “integration of long distance and roaming tariffs” would be the mainstream in the future.
