MIIT: Yunnan earthquake disabled 61 mobile communication base stations

The MIIT announced that, by the end of 8 o’clock on August 4th, the 6.5 magnitude earthquake in Ludian, the city of Zhaotong, Yunnan province, has already disabled 61 mobile communication base stations in the local place (16.8% of the total number of base stations in Ludian, in which 54 was caused by the power outage, 7 by the interruption of transmission), 16 access points in the fixed network was interrupted. No local network and county, township communication resistance happened, and the telephone traffic is steady without congestion in the present situation.

Due to the power outage and unavailability of the roads in the current earthquake regions, the fuel oil cannot be transported, there is still a tendency in the expand of disabled communication facilities, relevant department has requested the coordination of power and fuel supply to the command headquarters.

Up to now, China Telecom, China Unicom and China Mobile have sent emergency repair personnel and emergency vehicles to the disaster area.
