France to have 71.1 mln mobile phone users in 2014

There are forecast to be 71.1 million mobile phone subscribers in France in 2014 with Orange enjoying higher EBITDA margins that competitors SFR and Bouygues Telecom over the next five years, according to a study by Canada's IE Market Research. Orange France is projected to have 29 million mobile subscribers in 2014, as its market share falls to 40.8 percent from 43 percent in 2009. SFR's share is expected to fall to 32.9 percent from 34.1 percent and Bouygues' to stay within the 16-17 percent range. MVNOs are likely to see their share rise to 7 percent in 2014 from 3.9 percent in 2009, with the market share held by SFR MVNOs anticipated to grow to 3.3 percent from 2.1 percent. IE Market Research's model forecasts that EBITDA margins at Orange, SFR and Bouygues will be about 39.1 percent, 36.7 percent and 27 percent in 2014, with an industry average of 35-36 percent over the next five years. Monthly ARPU is projected to slip to EUR 32.60 from EUR 33.30 for Orange, EUR 32.84 from EUR 34.99 for SFR and approximately EUR 41.50 for Bouygues between 2010-2014.
