China telecom firms ordered not to install new lines during Olympics - report

China's telecom operators have been ordered not to install new phone lines or carry out upgrade work during the Olympics to avoid network disruption, the South China Morning Post reported.

It cited industry sources as saying that China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently circulated a memo, asking telecom firms and their agents not to undertake network construction work, upgrades or new connections during the period.
