Telecom Service Brought China Revenue of CNY313.2 bn in 1Q17

MIIT released the telecom industry economic operation on April 24.

In the first three months of this year, China's total telecommunications service volume reached CNY489.2 billion with a 44.6 percent YoY growth, and telecom services brought revenue of CNY313.2 billion, which climbed 5.7 percent compared with the same period of 2016.

China's three major telecom operators achieved mobile service revenue of CNY225.2 billion in the quarter, increasing 4.4 percent YoY and representing 71.9 percent of the telecommunication service revenue. Fixed telecom service revenue was up 9.3 percent year over year to CNY88 billion, accounting for 28.1 percent of the total revenue. The percentage of voice services declined to 19.6 percent.

Mobile data services grew 31 percent year over year. The fixed data and Internet services brought the three major telecom operators revenue of CNY48.6 billion with a 11.6 percent YoY increase, accounting for 15.5 percent of the telecom service revenue. China's mobile data and Internet service revenue climbed 31 percent to CNY131 billion, accounting for 41.8 percent of the telecom service revenue.
