China Telecom planned to start refarming 800MHz band, aiming to achieve full coverage of 4G, Shen Shaoai, deputy general manager of Technology Department of China Telecom said at Wireless China Industry Summit 2016 on September 7.
China Telecom targets to promote the migration of voices services from 3G to 4G, compress the carrier number of CDMA and deploy 3MHz/5MHz bandwidth-based LTE Carrier Aggregation (CA). The operator expected 4G coverage to be at 1X network level.
Shen Shaoai said, "China Telecom will start VoLTE construction, deploy vIMS core network based on the NFV architecture and offer VoLTE services relying on full coverage of 4G on low frequency band. Thus China Telecom will be supportive of VoLTE services in the first half of 2017."
