On December 8th, China Unicom held the "Wo 4G+" release conference in Beijing, chairman Wang Xiaochu said at the conference that China Unicom is confident about 4G, it will aggressively promote 4G network construction and deepen cooperation in sharing of network resources to create perfect network experiences in short time. "Personally, if we are given a few months, we will create excellent network environments for the customers”.
In the aspect of devices, he said China Unicom will take "market share as the priority", through the brands leading, balance of cohesion, scale subsidy and other measures, it plans to realize more than 35% market share of customized versions, more than 40% market shares of high-end devices and more than 30% of low-end devices.
In terms of brand leading, China Unicom will adhere to the three key words--open, high-end and ecosystem.
Specifically, in terms of open, China Unicom will realize compatibility with all the existing networks and frequency bands, the above 1,500-yuan devices will all achieve 6 mode/7 mode full supports; for the high-end, all the devices will support high speed (300Mbps and above), CA and VoLTE, VoWIFI and HD Voice in the future, there will be 100 devices supporting CA and VoLTE in the 2016 whole year; China Unicom will provide rich APPs and contents in the ecosystem, as well as low-cost traffic data.
In addition, both the customized and non-customized mobile phones can enjoy contract benefits in the future, China Unicom will maintain a modest subsidy for the giving free mobile phone to subscribers when they prepay call charge, the total amount is of CNY45 billion.
Wei Xiuchang, the general manager of China Unicom's Marketing Department, further pointed out that China Unicom will try its best to achieve the goals--doubled network choices, doubled network speed and doubled call quality in 2016, and the operator aims to sell more than 80 million “Wo 4G+” mobile phones next year.
In specific, China Unicom will mainly focus on launching mobile phones supporting all the networks, as well as CA, VoLTE, VoWIFI, HDVoice and other 4G applications; at the same time, it will launch main and vice SIM card packages, in which one package can support two SIM cards with fully shared services, it can also provide customized packages according to the demands of the main and vice SIM cards customers.
