China Mobile appealed the regulators to release low frequency spectrum resources

Updated:2015/8/24 10:50

At a recently held meeting, the vice president of China Mobile Design Institute Jiang Yuan said that China Mobile has built the world's largest 4G network. By the end of June, China Mobile has built nearly 1 million 4G base stations, achieving effective coverage of urban and rural areas. The sales volume of 4G devices exceeded 250 million and the 4G subscribers reached 250 million.

Jiang Yuan said, in order to narrow the digital gap between urban and rural areas and ensure effective wireless broadband coverage in rural regions, China Mobile needs to not only use advanced network technologies and more rational network architecture, but also reduce the cost and improve the bearing efficiency. In the other side, the low frequency bands can also be considered for networking to improve the effect.

"There’s no low frequency band resources in our existing 4G network, and a huge gap still exist in the network coverage in rural areas, we hope the relevant regulatory authorities could release low frequency bands resources as soon as possible, and issue the rural regional licenses." Jiang Yuan said, “I think the regulatory authorities could issue a regional low frequency band license in the rural areas, which will help to provide better mobile broadband services in rural areas."
