China Unicom Beijing branch launched 4G network upgrade

Updated:2014/9/15 10:56

On August 28th, Beijing officially became one of the second batch of 4G LTE hybrid networking trial cities, C114 recently learned that, China Unicom Beijing branch has launched the upgrade of its 4G network, with the LTE FDD/TD-LTE hybrid 4G networking, the peak speed can reach 150Mbps.

As everyone knows, the current domestic 4G network use two standards, which are  FDD LTE and TD-LTE, China Unicom will use the form of FDD LTE+TD-LTE hybrid networking, namely "double 4G", which is available for both FDD LTE and TD-LTE 4G network simultaneously.

As we have learned, according to the plan of China Unicom Beijing branch, hotspot region will form a unique mobile brand network of tri-network superposed network of FDD LTE+TD-LTE+WCDMA, for example, the TD-LTE network will be used to unload traffic flow in hotspot regions and the LTE FDD technology to provide a full network coverage to the subscribers, while WCDMA is used as an effective supplement, which can simultaneously meet the needs for wide coverage and indepth services, bring better application service experience to the subscribers.

For the subscribers, this means that they can automatically switch in the three high-speed mobile networks, ensuring good network experience in any time and any place. In other words, in the LTE coverage areas, the subscribers can use LTE 4G network to surf the internet, and automatically switch between the LTE FDD/TD-LTE models according to the different network, in the regions where LTE signal is not ideal, it can automatically switch to the 42Mbps 4G-ready network, so as to obtain good network experience at any time and in any place.
