Updated:2012/10/16 09:54

Xie Cun, deputy director of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's (MIIT) State Radio Regulatory Commission (SRRC), recently disclosed during the TD-LTE technology and spectrum forum at the ITU Telecom World 2012 in Dubai that China has allocated the 2500-2690Hz (2.6GHz) and entire 190Mhz spectrum ranges for TD-LTE.

A source within China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) has revealed that China Mobile's outdoor base stations primarily use 2.6GHz, while indoor base stations use 2.3GHz and in some areas use the 1.9GHz range.

China Mobile is currently aiming to acquire the 700-800MHz range, which is used by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) and will be unavailable until 2015, when analog TV broadcasting will cease.
