Softbank develops 30,000 subs on TD-LTE network

Softbank Corp., Japanese third telecommunications operator, recently said on Sino-Japanese GTI Symposium it has developed over 30,000 subscribers on TD-LTE network since commercial available on February 24, the company plans to add 12,000 units base stations by March next year.

Softbank's TD-LTE projects has two phases, 2000 base stations have been completed in first phase, and over 10,000 units will be added in second phase. The TD-LTE contract was awarded to two major Chinese equipment manufacturers, Huawei and ZTE to construct the 4G network. In the first phase, Huawei and ZTE construct 1000 units base stations respectively, and in second phase, Huawei will construct 7000 units and ZTE will construct 4600 units.

C114 learnt that Softbank's TD-LTE network had become Japan's fastest commercial network in the rate with the peak rate of up to 76Mbps, the average rate is between 20-30Mbps. later this year after the launch of the new terminal based on Hass chip, the peak rate will reach 110Mbps.

According to the preliminary planning of Softbank, the company is expected to develop one million TD-LTE subscribers by the end of this year; TD-LTE base stations will reach 30,000 by March 2013; TD-LTE network will cover 90% of the area and population in Japan by the end of 2013. In addition, Softbank will further increase the capacity planning and indoor coverage to further enhance the user perception.
