Reporters informed from Chongqing Chongyou Information Technology ( Group ) Co., LTD ( CYIT ) that its first 4G mobile communications chip was sent to the headquarter which located in the south bank of Huang Jue Ya to begin the self-test.
4G's speed is 36 times faster than 3G's.
According to Shen Min, vice president of CYIT, that 4G has more powerful features than the current 3G as we know. For example, the current transmission speed of 3G is typically 2.8Mb per second, while the transmission speed of 4G is up to 100Mb per second, about 36 times faster than 3G.
"The foreign companies has produced the 4G chips, many domestic units are also researching the technology." said Shen Min, now Chongqing gave out the product, though it still in the internal self-test phase, it must be leading in the country.
"4G mobile communication service is available in the Nordic countries, China will also carry out the test next year in six cities." Shen Min said, the full promotion of 4G mobile communications not only depend on the chip, but also need the maturity of 4G mobile communications network environment and other factors, so it is expected that only after three years, the 4G products can be popular in general public. About CYIT’s 4G chip, Shen Min said: "The biggest feature is support for 2G and 3G systems."

According to Zhou Shulin, the director of Electronics Department, Chongqing Economic and Information Committee, that Chongqing has six campanies including CYIT declared 14 related 4G projects to the State Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), which including chips, network and so on. MIIT has allocated 160 million yuan of special funds for the 4G technology.
Wu Guang, deputy director of Chongqing Economic and Information Committee also said that during the "11th Five-Year Plan", the city's electronic information industry has maintained rapid growth, the main business income from 35.1 billion in 2006 grew to 135 billion yuan in 2010 (projected), an increase of 285%.
During the “ Twelfth Five-year Plan ”, Chongqing will increase the research and development investment of electronic information industry, plans to complete a total investment of 3,000 billion yuan, and strive to achieve the sales revenue of 800 billion yuan, the total sales income of the electronic information industry will reach 1 trillion yuan, which will build the electronic information industry into the first pillar industry in Chongqing.
